Open Closet Ministries Canned Food Drive!
Overview:
OC distributes food once a month (every second Saturday) from the parking lot of RCC. We are having a Canned Food drive to supplement the food purchased from the Redwood Empire Food Bank. Currently OC spends an average of $1500 per month for food distributed to our neighbors. We have 350 families counting on our food distribution for the nutritional wellbeing of their children and families. We are the largest distributor of food in Sonoma County. The canned food drive will off-set some of that cost.
Goal:
Two canned food drives a year that will decrease the amount we spend yearly by 17%.
To hit 17% we will have to fill up eight huge totes during the food drive, which is approximately 7000 cans of food. If every family at RCC gives ten cans per family. We make our goal!
Many people who attend RCC donate cans to annual food drives around Santa Rosa, with much of that food funneling to the Food Bank where your tithe is used to purchase food a second time! It’s more efficient to donate the food directly to RCC!
