small groups

Why join a small group?“Kathy and I don’t know where we’d be without our small group. That’s the bottom line... You know how we can all tend to drift off, get out of touch with God, your life starts to get upside down and pretty soon you find yourself in a bad place and you can’t figure out how you got there? It happens naturally to all of us when we are not pursuing God TOGETHER.

johnHFor us, our Christian life is wrapped up in our small group. We have led more than 15 groups in the past 20 years and we still fondly remember the times we went through in each one, the people we came to love and the people we will remain close to for the rest of our lives.
– John & Kathy Hirsekorn

Our small group started with a bunch of strangers thrown together, and then we slowly became family. We have prayed for one another through illnesses, financial difficulties and joblessness. And we’ve celebrated victories for God’s answers to those prayers. Each of our kathyestories has built the faith of the others and encouraged each other to continue to “fight the good fight”. All that takes time. Two hours a week for the last four years has grown us up in a manner that would have been very hard to grow except through a small group. – Kathy Ehlers

Having participated in, and faciliated many small groups over the last few years, I can only say that they are essential for the well being of any local church. Our current group prays, crys and laughs together on a weekly basis. This is the safe place to ask questions, share deeply and be comforted when there seems to be no one else to listen. Small groups are the place where Jesus becomes real and pulls the human skin over the theological skeleton that sometimes Sunday church can become. Don’t pass up the opportunity to engage in spiritual growth on this level - there is nothing else like it. – Les Negley
