Our next Alpha Banquet will take place on January 12th, 2010, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Redwood Covenant Church. It is free. There will be great food, entertainment, and important information about the Alpha Course. Come and see if Alpha is right for you. No obligation. No pressure. No need to call ahead.

The Alpha Course

AlphaIn 1993 Nicky Gumble discovered people were struggling with real questions of faith and other religious traditions. He put together a simple course in basic Christianity to bring people together to talk about their beliefs (or non-beliefs) without being judged. Redwood Covenant Church has been offering the Alpha program since the late 1990’s.

What is Alpha?

Alpha logoAlpha is a ten week course on basic Christianity. Each week we discuss a different topic:

  1. Who Is Jesus?
  2. Why Did Jesus Die?
  3. How Can I Be Sure of My Faith?
  4. How and Why Do I Read the Bible?
  5. How and Why Do I Pray?
  6. Does God Guide Us Today?

(In the middle of the course is a special Alpha Weekend where we discuss “What Does the Holy Spirit Do?” and “How Can I Be Filled with the Holy Spirit?”)

  7. How Can I Resist Evil?
  8. Why and How Should I Tell Others?
  9. Does God Heal Today?
  10. What About Church?
When is Alpha?

Redwood Covenant Church runs the Alpha program three times per year – Fall, Winter, and Spring. So if you can’t make it this time, think about taking a course in the future. Each class is on a Tuesday night from 6:30-9:00 p.m.

Who is welcome at Alpha?

Anyone who can hold a conversation is welcome at Alpha. It doesn’t matter if you are a Christian of some kind or not or an atheist or agnostic or just plain uncertain. We find Alpha is a great place to think things through for yourself. We are there to facilitate your search.

If you are not a Christian, or do not know whether you are or not, Alpha is a great place to come and work it all out. We invite you to please give Alpha a try. If you want to know more, please see our page on "What Can I Expect When I Walk Through The Doors at Alpha?"

If you’re thinking about inviting one or more of your friends and neighbors, that’s great! That’s what makes Alpha work. Please feel free to stop by the Alpha table and talk to one of the team members and get some literature and information. Please read “It's Alpha Time Again”.
