Kathy Ehlers, Director of Newcomers Ministries

Kathy EhlersI lived the first half of a century in Pasadena. Nice place, but I hope to live the second half of a century in paradise, otherwise known as Sonoma County. (So where do people go for vacation when they already live in paradise?) I have an AA degree from Pasadena City College in fashion design, with which I did nothing. I was way too young and scared to put together a portfolio and start selling my wares. So I moved on to a more stable industry, interior design. I sold furniture and taught interior design to the public at Ethan Allen for 6 years and for the past 25 years I have sold window coverings. The best part of my job is this: I get to drive over the river and through the woods to Grand…..no, no, no… to customers’ amazing homes, in the middle of nowhere and sell them all sorts of creative stuff!!! How cool is that?

I’ve ALWAYS known Jesus, but I can’t tell you how or when that came to be. Somewhere in young childhood. However, I didn’t understand one of the simplest, yet most profound truths about Him. So I proceeded to marry and subsequently divorce three men. (“Looking for love in all the wrong places….????duh.”)  Then, 10 years ago, I attended Cleansing Stream, Jack Hayford’s deliverance ministry.  There God revealed to me that one simple, most profound truth:  HE LOVES ME.  Again, duh!! The truth really did set me free.

I just discovered I like jazz music. And I really enjoy using sign language set to music as a form of worship. So I turned 50 a while back and the warranty expired. I got cancer. Weird, very rare appendix cancer. But it didn’t get me. There is nothing I am not able to do because of this disease even though it continues to recur. Actually, I already know what cures cancer……chocolate and the endless prayers of dear friends and family. Thank you, Lord.
